New York Times has always been one of my favorite news and information sources. I could often find something that the mainstream media may not publish. They published an article called No Meat, No Dairy, No Problem by Mark Bittman on December 29, 2011, stating that veganism is “no longer considered bizarre or unreasonably spartan.” I think this is definitely true in bigger and more progressive cities like New York City.
I have been looking up and down in Hong Kong for a good vegan baking cookbook and couldn’t find any for weeks. If the local bookstores ever offer anything remotely close, it would be vegetarian recipes. I found one vegan baking cookbook in Swindon Book Co today (thank God) but it was without photos…and the staff didn’t even know they were selling vegan cookbooks. It has also been a mission impossible to find the book The China Study by Dr Colin Campbell here, though it’s a national bestseller in the United States.
People go vegan for different reasons: Losing weight, animal welfare, more energy, environment protection, reversing heart disease and cancer, better skin or saving money. Don’t take anybody’s words for granted. Try eating more plants for yourself – semi-veganism. As Bittman said, get a bean burger instead of a regular hamburger once a week. Order a vegetarian fajita instead of a beef version (I just had an awesome veggie fajita in Hong Kong) over the weekend. If you like to cook, there are plenty of delicious recipes out there including those on the New York Times or ChooseVeg.com.
Be a little more creative and bring in a bit of imagination into your food. You’ll soon find that it’s easy to live better and healthier.

So true! Great post on veganism. My favorite part about following a vegan diet is the creativity that goes into planning a meal or quick snack. It’s not hard! Happy New Year!

Sara, yes, thanks! Totally, and a little research on the Internet too. That’s all. Not hard at all.
