I posted a photo of Silverstrand Beach in Hong Kong on Facebook yesterday while I was listening to the waves and enjoying the sun with my friend. That’s the top photo that my friends and family saw. The beach was pretty deserted with only a few veteran swimmers. The photo gave you a very peaceful and serene scene of Sai Kung.

Apology for spoiling that scene with a photo of a dumping ground on the same beach. The bottom photo was taken at the same place, but with just a shift of angle of my iPhone camera. It’s very sad to see how inconsiderate locals and tourists are, treating the ocean as a trash can and dumpsite. We saw paper wrappers, plastic tubs, soda cans, beach toys, plastic bottles…and even wood planks.

When would people learn that the earth, including the ocean, is our home and home for marine life?
