The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Arturo Ripstein at the White Sands International Film Festival on Tuesday night. Alejandro Monteverde, the Director of “Bella”, was the presenter of the award.
After the award presentation, one of Ripstein’s film “La Reina De La Noche” was shown. It is a story about a legendary Mexican singer Lucha Reyes. It focuses on Lucha’s stormy relationship with her mother who is the madame of a brothel. While Lucha’s career is successful, her personal life drives her to alcohol, solitude and eventually suicide.
