Holloman Air & Space Expo 2007 - Part 3

In Part 1 of my blog, I gave a brief introduction of the event and the the planes that are close to the heart of Holloman AFB.  In Part 2, I talked about the X Prize Cup, particularly the Northrop Grumman Lunar Lander Challenge.  In this part, I’ll talk about the the air show performance of one particular plane and pilot that I like - Rob Holland with MX2.

I was never too interested in air shows, but Rob Holland changed my mind.  His high-intensity and rock n’ roll style of aerobatics made my jaws drop.  Rob maneuvered the MX2 to do somersaults, flips and turns.  He literally did acrobatics with the plane.  Throughout the performance, you could feel that he was having fun up in the sky, and this fun seemed to be infectious with the audience on the ground who was watching with “oohs” and “wows”.

MX2 is a 380 horsepower masterpiece powered by Lycoming AEIO-540 Aerobatic Engine.  It can pull a G-load of plus and minus 14 G’s.

MX2 - 1  MX2 - 2  MX2 - 3

angiepalmer,

Thank you very much for the kind comments. I had a great time performing at The Holloman AFB Air Show and really enjoyed meeting everyone there.

Blue Skies,

Rob
